My Golden Christmas Midi

My final finished project for this year was a gold corduroy variant of trusty Simplicity 2451. While I quite like my green version, I thought a more neutral color was a necessary staple.

Once again, I chose a lightweight 21 wale corduroy but I tweaked the pattern a bit. I shortened it by a few inches, making it a midi (the tall girl mini) and removed the vent to create younger, laid-back look. To further the casual effect, I topstitched the pockets and used my first centered zipper in the back.

The only color-accurate photo we took...taken in a shopping lot!

I took this one out this week for a bit of after-Christmas shopping. It was perfect for running around town in our southern, extended-fall weather, paired with a cotton shirt, lambswool sweater and tights. (Of course, shopping does not present the best photo opportunities... note the cheesy pose on a parking lot median, ha!).

Paired differently, I think this skirt will take me through early spring. I love items that can span the seasons! Of course, that's one great thing about this pattern. It's versatile! And classic - you know I love classic! I've not sewn the last of this pattern. There's more 2451 (and more corduroy) to come! I also have a long list of new projects ahead and sewing resolutions to stick to!

As this weekend marks DH2b's and my 10th anniversary, this will be my last post of the year but I hope to 'see' everyone again in January. :)

I hope you have a safe and happy holiday! Happy New Year!!! x

  1. This skirt looks great - your outfit is sending a great fall vibe. (I'm loving that we are having a more mild winter in MN too). You are so right about the skirt taking you through spring. I think it would look lovely with a light pink blouse . . .

10 years - that is amazing! Good thing you two are getting hitched soon. I hope you have a wonderful new year's and a fantastic anniversary.

  2. Love the blue sweater with the brown corduroy. Cute, cute, cute. Enjoy celebrating the New Year with your fiance.

  3. Thanks @Annabelle! A pink blouse is just what I was thinking for spring!

I hope you had a wonderful new year's too!

  4. Thank you @Pam! I'll definitely be wearing this combo again. Happy new year!
